How should I prepare my Tahoe Q4 for one year of storage as I ship out for military duty?

Q: I'm in the military and am getting ready to ship out to Korea for one year. What should I do to my 2007 Tahoe Q4 to prepare it for storage?

A: Thanks for being there for us, Julia! To make sure your Tahoe is ready upon your return, put fuel stabilizer in your fuel tank and fill it. With the boat on the trailer and the drive in the water, run it for five minutes until you're sure the treated gas has made it through the fuel system. Remove the flame arrestor on top of the carburetor and squirt marine fogging spray into the engine until the moisture lugs the engine down and chokes it. Drain the water out of your engine by removing the brass plug in the black hose inside the bilge — that drains the entire engine of water. Put a good cover on the boat, and stay safe in Korea!
